Wish Maker - London Landmarks Cheer Spot
Make-A-Wish UK brings amazing people together to grant inspirational, life-changing wishes for children with critical conditions. We work with wish children, their families, and medical teams to make unforgettable wishes a reality – like a child getting to be a princess in their own castle, cooking with their favourite celebrity chef, and even becoming a Ghostbuster to save the city of Leeds!
Why we need your help
Join the Make-A-Wish UK Volunteer team on April 6th and cheer on our incredible runners at London Landmarks Half Marathon Cheer Spot 2025! We would be so grateful for your support, and your presence will make all the difference to our 95 #WishHero runners. It’s one of the best days of the Challenge Events calendar!
**Arrival: from 9:30am. First elite runners expected at approx 9:25am. **
Finish: 3:30pm (estimated - final runners expected approx 2:26pm but we like to ensure the final runners still get cheers!)
**Location: Embankment / Cleopatra’s Needle. What3Words will be announced via WhatsApp when Cerys sets up cheer point in the morning. **
The runners will be running north along Embankment and we will see them between their first and second mile. Then, they will run back down the same road past us at mile 12. So, we can cheer them on as they start the race, then again as they near the finish line!
Why Volunteer for Make-A-Wish UK?
Are you looking for a dynamic and flexible opportunity with no regular commitment? Does your employer offer you corporate volunteering days and you are not sure how to use them?
When you volunteer in your community for Make-A-Wish UK, you'll become part of a nationwide team, helping children who are living with critical conditions by getting active in your local community with other volunteers by taking part in a short one-off event with no minimum commitment. We know that your time is precious, so we’ll work with you to make sure you get the most out of your experience with us.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Join an inspiring and magical organisation, where you will help children experience the anticipation and long-lasting effects of a wish
- Develop new skills and gain new work-related experiences and relationships
How will I be supported?
You will receive specific training/briefings relating to your role through our engaging learning and development programme, as well as plenty of support from the Make-A-Wish UK team, enabling you to feel confident and empowered in making magical wishes happen for our wish families.
What skills do I need?
- A commitment to our values and behaviours.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A warm, enthusiastic, and friendly manner.
There are few experiences more powerful than helping to make a wish come true. Join us now and be part of the magic!
